Here is a rework of the German MP40 - Submachine gun from WW2. Originally this project was created in 2022, but I decided to revisit this project and incorporate new workflows that I have acquired. Completely re-modelled the gun and used extensive research to explore the guns realism and level of detail that needed to be used in this project. I explored the use of the UDIMs workflow, which allowed me to setup multiple texture maps to cover extra detail in the texturing process. Re-designing the gun from scratch was a fruitful experience that offered the chance to work on some hard surface modelling and the boolean workflow. Adding a layer of story telling was needed for this project, so I created a small diorama with familiar props that were used by German soldiers in WW2 and showcased them all in a scene. The diorama represents the constant usage of these props in wartime, revealing rustic, weathered and loss of texture on these models that have aged overtime. Thanks for viewing.
- Explored the UDIMS workflow used in Games
- Used a Texture map size of 2048 by 2048 for both the gun and all of the props
- Used Arnold renderer to render out the MP40 seperately
- Used Zbrush for the high and low poly workflow of some props
- Setup a Diorama scene in Unreal Engine 5
- Edits and final compositions were done in Photoshop
